Psychotherapy
Michelle has worked in the field for nearly 20 years with a background in social services, extensively working with diverse populations, including First Nations, youth-at-risk, and marginalized populations. She specializes in substance abuse disorders, depression, anxiety, and complex post-traumatic stress disorders. Michelle works from an integrative, client-centred approach that blends Eastern spiritual practices with Western psychology.
In 2019, she became a Registered Psychotherapist and opened her private practice. Michelle is also a Canadian Certified Counselor and Supervisor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and a Certified International Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She is currently working on her Doctorate of Counselling and Psychotherapy Program at Yorkville University, researching the benefits of using yoga therapy in counselling and psychotherapy.
Outside of counselling and when she isn’t studying, she enjoys physical activity, spending time in the trails with her two husky puppies, and the great outdoors. After discovering her Metis ancestry, Algonquin, she has enjoyed connecting with the traditional practices and merging them into her life.
Yoga Therapy
Michelle has 20 years of experience as a yogi and meditation student. She is a Certified International Yoga Therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Michelle has studied with yoga therapy experts Sat Dharam Kaur and Erin Byron. In 2018, she quit her government job and travelled to India to study with Hansaji Yogendra at the Yoga Institute in Mumbai.
She is working on her Doctorate of Counselling and Psychotherapy Program at Yorkville University, researching the benefits of yoga in counselling and psychotherapy. Michelle offers clinical supervision to yoga therapists and mental health professionals.
Michelle is in sobriety herself and has been in recovery since 2005. She witnessed first-hand the powerful impact of blending Eastern spiritual practices with Western psychology and utilizes these diverse practices, philosophies, disciplines, and theoretical perspectives to provide her clients with a unique, individualized approach to healing. Michelle offers unique opportunities to learn, grow, heal, and reconnect with yourself.
Supervision
Supervision became one of my passions when I was invited by the Compassionate Inquiry Program, developed by Dr. Gabor Mate and Sat Dharam Kaur, to be one of their Mentors in their Mentorship and Mentor-In-Training Programs. Since that time, I have taken two Clinical Supervision Training Programs. The first program I took was that of Dr. Jeff Chang, one of my University professors at Athabasca University. The second and most recent is by Dr. Blythe Shepard at the University of Lethbridge.
I have been working as a Registered Psychotherapist and Counsellor in Ontario since 2019, as a Mentor since 2022, and have begun supervising this past year (2024). In my early 20s, I witnessed first-hand the powerful impact of blending Eastern spiritual practices with Western psychology. At that time, I started studying yoga with Sat Dharam Kaur and was introduced to the work of Dr. Gabor Mate. As such, I am equally evidence-based, client-centred, and spiritually aligned.
Working in this field with you is a pleasure and a great privilege to be one of your colleagues!
Compassionate Inquiry Mentoring
I was the first official cohort to graduate from the Compassionate Inquiry year-long training Dr. Gabor Mate and Sat Dharam Kaur developed. Subsequently, I was one of the first official Interns in the year-long program and one of the first official Mentees to finish their Mentorship Program. When I was invited to be part of the Mentorship Program and Mentor-In-Training Program, I jumped at the opportunity! This program has changed my entire being, and I am thrilled to share all I know with you while continuing to deepen my knowledge and love of Compassionate Inquiry.
Supervision has become one of my passions since that time. Although mentoring is different from supervision, it is essential to note that I have taken two Clinical Supervision Training Programs. The first program I took was that of Dr. Jeff Chang, one of my University professors at Athabasca University. The second and most recent is by Dr. Blythe Shepard at the University of Lethbridge.

I thrive on offering unique opportunities to learn, grow, heal, and reconnect with you personally and professionally.
